Badminton: ‘Misbun must re-think decision’
THE ball is in Misbun Sidek’s court as the BA of Malaysia (BAM) wants the national singles coach, who tendered his resignation on Dec 31, to reconsider his decision.
The association feels that Misbun’s services are needed for the 2012 London Olympics.
Misbun had stated dissatisfaction over the new training structure as his main reason to quit but BAM president Datuk Seri Nadzmi Salleh said he will be having another meeting (with Misbun) to convince him of the effectiveness of the new structure.
Nadzi said the BAM executive council (Exco) unanimously agreed to ask Misbun to have a re-think as Lee Chong Wei’s preparations for the London Olympics will be disrupted.
The player has said in no uncertain terms that he will not train under another coach.
Chong Wei had also said he will leave if Misbun’s resignation is accepted by BAM and this could be one of the reasons why the association decided not to accept the coach’s resignation.
